Clarvyn is made by Roamlabs Technologies. It exists because the software a school can normally buy was written for a different kind of school: one with an IT department, a stable connection, and a fee structure that does not change every term.
So it is built around the three people who actually use it.
In the office
The bursar needs to know who has paid.
That should be a screen, not an afternoon with the ledger. The arrears list is the fee book already added up, longest-owing first, and a payment is taken from the same row it is owed on.

In the classroom

And now does not have to. Attendance, results, fees and photos are in the app the evening they happen. The next school is on Explore, and other parents are on the forum.

- Your lessons today, the register still to be taken, and a tap to mark yourself in.

- Each child a tap, Present or Absent. A mark waits on the phone until it has reached the school.
- Class work and marks
- Set a piece of work, then mark it on a sheet, child by child, out of its maximum.
- Students
- The roll, searched by name or admission number.
- Timetable
- Your own week, lesson by lesson.
- Calendar
- Term dates, and the days the school is closed.
- Kitchen
- This week's menu, as the office has set it.
- Notices
- What the school has posted, as the parents see it.

- Your own register: present, late, absent or excused, and marking yourself in.

- Your record as the school holds it. Payslips stay on the console, not on a shared handset.

- What has reached the school and what is still on the phone, with the reason when something could not.

- The guides and what's new, inside the app.
The parent app
- Sign in by phone
- Your number and a code by text. No password and no school code; the school's record of your number is the link to your child.
- Your wards
- One card per child: school and class, days present, whether fees are settled, and today's gate record.
- Needs a look
- In the Android app: one card naming one child and one reason, such as a subject falling since last term.
- Attendance
- The last four school weeks, day by day: present, late or absent. A day nobody marked is left empty.
- Work
- Everything the child has been set, most recent first, and how the term is trending subject by subject.
- Fees
- Each invoice with its balance and every payment. Pay online where the school takes it, or the school's own accounts to pay directly. A receipt by text when it settles.
- Health
- What the school wrote down, and the instruction beside it. A medicine you register, and where it stands.
- Photos
- Every photograph the school has tagged your child in, newest first.
- Menu
- This week's meals, when the kitchen has published them.
- School
- The school's own pages, its term dates and closures, what the level is taught, and the admission checklist.
- The gate
- Today's drop-off and pick-up, and every gate event the school has recorded for the child.
- Shop
- What the school sells, ordered online and handed over at the office.
- Inbox
- A question to the school office, answered there.
- Explore
- Every school that chose to be listed. Reading needs no account.
- Forum
- One board under real names. Anyone can read; signed-in parents post.
- App lock
- In the Android app: a PIN before the app shows your children, for a shared handset.
